I Get Knocked Down, But I Get Up Again

Aaaaaaaand, I’m back!

More than anything this blog has been a testimony to my inability to consistently sit down and write. And yet, most days, I still feel the pull to sit down and bang on the keys. Writing, when it happens, is a tremendously satisfying process.

Unfortunately not publishing begets not publishing which further begets not publishing. This negative feedback loop has been a tough nut to crack. But crack it I shall. With a hammer, nutcracker, or through sheer force of will this protective shell will yield and I will have satisfaction.

So, for my 10,000th try, I’m going to change it up and try to squeeze the outline, rough draft, editing, image selection, and publishing all into one go.

This will mean shorter posts, but that can be a good thing. Tik Tok and YouTube shorts are just the latest examples of the demand for bite-sized content, which Twitter has consistently demonstrated for a long time now. As time goes on and the habit solidifies things become much easier to tackle. First establish, then improve.

Not having an editor will be the biggest change. Publishing will be faster, but I’d still recommend getting one. The right editor is more than just technical expertise, they also provide a lot of happiness in the form of positive reinforcement and general camaraderie. But, for the time being, it’s time to sack up and head out into the great unknown.

Onward and upward!
